Disclosed is a radiation therapy device provided with a radiation device (600), a detector contained in a PET scanner (200), a control unit (540), and a PET image reconstruction unit (525). The radiation device (600) irradiates therapeutic radiation. The detector counts photons from gamma rays, and is provided with a gap portion in the surface of revolution, the axis of which is the body axis of the patient; therapeutic radiation irradiated by the radiation device (600) passes through said gap portion. In a state in which therapeutic radiation can be irradiated through the gap portion, the control unit (540) controls the radiation device (600) and the detector so as to rotate synchronously. In a state in which rotation control is exercised by the control unit (540), the PET image reconstruction unit (525) reconstructs a PET image on the basis of information relating to position during counting by the detector, which counts substantially simultaneously the annihilation gamma rays emitted accompanying energy emission of heavy particle beam.
