The invention relates to a preparation method of a carbon nano tube array. The method comprises the following steps: providing a substrate having a catalyst layer and placing the substrate having the catalyst layer in a reaction chamber; providing at least two carbon source gases, wherein the carbon elements in the at least two carbon source gases respectively consist of different types of single-carbon isotopes; and simultaneously introducing the at least two carbon source gases into the reaction chamber, and controlling the temperature of the catalyst layer so that the temperatures of the different regions of the catalyst layer respectively reach different reaction temperatures and the at least two carbon source gases react in the different regions of the catalyst layer. The invention also relates to the carbon nano tube array prepared by the method of the carbon nano tube array.
