The invention discloses a method for detecting a toxic element, namely hexavalent chrome Cr (VI) in a color-coated steel plate accurately, simply and conveniently. The method comprises the following steps: a) weighing a sample; b) performing a depainting process; c) performing a burning process; d) performing a grinding process; e) performing a dissolving, boiling and leaching process; f) performing a filtering and volume-setting process; g) detecting the absorbance of the sample; h) formulating a hexavalent chrome standard curve; and i) calculating the content of the hexavalent chrome. The method has the advantages of strong operability, no pollution, accurate inspection and the like and is very important significant for analyzing the toxic element, namely the hexavalent chrome, in the color-coated plate.
