The present invention provides an automatic analysis apparatus. A photomultiplier tube has individual differences and changes characteristic thereof with time. In order to properly use a nonlinear standard curve, it is preferable to provide signals of exact amounts. An automatic analysis apparatus is provided with a means which in order to adjust the sensitivity of the photomultiplier tube, measures an identical sample under a plurality of high voltage conditions, sets an optimum set value by a predetermined number of times of measurement from a linear relationship obtained from the logarithms of high voltages and the logarithms of the signal amounts, and records information identifying the linear relationship, and the apparatus evaluates the information, thereby evaluating the soundness of the photomultiplier tube.
