The invention, which belongs to the field of the power system and automation technology thereof, provides a method for locating prime motor disturbance source triggering forced power oscillation. The invention employing the system disturbed trajectory collected by wide area measurement system (WAMS) locates a disturbance source according to the phase relation characteristic between the system response trajectory and the disturbance motivation trajectory, so as to provide a decision support to the electric power system dispatching and operating control. The beneficial effects of the invention lies in that the method, which can solve the problem of distinguishing the response and motivation from the actual measurement system dynamic trajectory, has characteristics of less calculation and simple analysis procedure, so as to provide the intuitive reference for power system operating control and improves the practicability of the WAMS.
