The present invention provides a welding device for welding workpieces (9) made of high-temperature resistant super alloys. The device comprises: a heat source (3) for creating a heat application zone (11) on the workpiece surface (10); a feed mechanism (5) for feeding welding filler material (13) into the heat application zone; and a conveying device (15) for creating a relative movement between the heat source (3) and the feed mechanism (5) on one hand and the workpiece surface (10) on the other hand. The welding device also comprises a controller (17) having a control program that performs the relative movement in such a way that the welding power and the diameter of the heat application zone (11) are set such that the cooling rate at the time of solidification of the material is at least 8000 Kelvin per second.
