In cold starting a gasification facility, air for fluidizing (10) is fed into a combustion furnace (9) to fluidize a combustion furnace fluidized-bed (11), and a preheating fuel (22) is fed into the furnace to preheat the combustion furnace fluidized-bed (11) to a natural igniting temperature of coal. Thereafter, the combustion furnace (9) is charged with coal (23) to heat the combustion furnace fluidized-bed (11), and to heat a flow medium by circulating the medium between the combustion furnace (9) and a gasification furnace (1). When the gasification facility is started and stopped, steam (2) from a waste heat recovery boiler (20) which exchanges heat with exhaust gas (15) from the combustion furnace (9) is fed into the gasification furnace (1) to purge the gasification furnace (1) anda guide path (6) by the steam (2) with use of the exhaust heat.
