The invention discloses a method for gamma correction of an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen. In the method an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and a singlechip are adopted to build a hardware circuit. A host is connected with an interface module of the FPGA through the singlechip; an output module of the FPGA is connected with the LCD screen; and the FPGA comprises an operational module and a gamma table. The gamma value is adjusted according to the actual requirement based on the FPGA by using the method of a lookup table, and the digit of the output digital video can be adjusted according to the requirement. The invention realizes the gamma correction function, simplifies the complex gamma correction process into a pure method for searching the input data, and has the advantages of high real-time property, simple operation, simplified circuit, strong reusability, and the like.
