A suspension system for a traveling machine body comprises a suspension reference position alteration mechanism (18) for altering the reference position of suspension stroke of a suspension mechanism (100), and a controller (35) for calculating an intermediate value from a maximal value corresponding to the maximal position of suspension stroke and a minimal value corresponding to the minimal position of suspension stroke, and controlling the suspension reference position alteration mechanism such that the calculated intermediate value is displaced in the direction of a set target range when the intermediate value deviates from the target range. The controller (35) increases the frequency of executing control for the suspension reference position alteration mechanism (18) when the machine body is in a state of low traveling speed, and decreases the frequency of executing control for the suspension reference position alteration mechanism (18) when the machine body is in a state of high traveling speed.
