The invention discloses a method for protecting a buried cable, which comprises the following steps of: 1. doubling the area and the height of a cable marking stone and loading the relative information and the contact telephone number of a cable on the cable marking stone; 2. mixing red soil in soil for burying the cable; 3. arranging an underground warning tape above the cable and specifying the information showing that a cable is buried and other related information on the underground warning tape; 4. arranging a high-pressure gas pipe above the cable, wherein the two ends of the high-pressure gas pipe are connected with a high-pressure container, a gas flow sensor is arranged at the joint part of the high-pressure gas pipe and the high-pressure container, the gas flow sensor is connected with a cable protection terminal or an electrical field service terminal, and the high-pressure container is filled with non-toxic high-pressure gas with pungent smell and bright color; and 5. arranging steel strands above the cable and fixing the steel strands with concrete blocks every 3-5m, wherein the two ends of each steel strand are fixed with ground anchors. The invention solves the technical problem that the cable marker of the prior art can not attract attention of people.
