The invention relates to application of ethylmethylsulfone in preparation of a chemical anthericide for crops, and breeding, in particular to application of the ethylmethylsulfone in preparation of a chemical anthericide for cabbages, and breeding, which belongs to the technical field of plant breeding. The chemical anthericide for the crops comprises the following components in percentage by volume: 0.7 to 0.9 percent of stock solution of ethylmethylsulfone and the balance of buffer solution of sodium phosphate, wherein the pH value is 5.6 to 6.0. The stock solution of ethylmethylsulfone with the concentration of 0.7 to 0.9 percent is used for performing male-killing, so the invention provides a novel anthericide for the field of breeding. By using the anthericide, the processing time is greatly shortened, the work load of breeding is reduced, and the male-killing rate is greatly increased.
