A process for producing a woody resin molding which comprises a step in which a woody resin composition comprising a thermoplastic resin, a cellulose powder, and a blowing agent, the weight ratio of the thermoplastic resin to the cellulose powder being from 20/80 to 80/20, is passed through a shaping die having no core and extruded into a cooling mold. The extrusion molding machine has a barrel temperature lower than the blowing temperatures of the blowing agent, and molding is conducted while keeping the temperature of the shaping die within the range of blowing temperatures of the blowing agent. Thus, a woody resin molding is provided which has a highly foamed layer and a lowly foamed layer formed on the outer side of the highly foamed layer and in which particles of the cellulose powderare not exposed in the surface of the lowly foamed layer. The molding is lightweight and is comparable to natural wood in secondary processability including nail driving and screw fixation. It is fre e from appearance failures, e.g., streak patterns on the surface due to weld lines, and strength problems, e.g., surface cracking. The woody resin molding can give a product excellent in rigidity and strength and can be efficiently produced by extrusion molding.
