The invention relates to a tube for a crane jib support, which selects an alloying line with low carbon and high manganese and proper amount of tungsten, vanadium, chromium and molybdenum, and designs the chemical compositions of steel according to the processing and use requirements of the tube for the crane jib support. The compositions are as follows in percentage by mass: 0.14 to 0.18 percent of carbon, 0.20 to 0.50 percent of silicon, 1.20 to 1.50 percent of manganese, less than or equal to 0.020 percent of phosphorus, less than or equal to 0.010 percent of sulfur, 0.40 to 0.80 percent of tungsten, 0.03 to 0.08 percent of vanadium, 0.015 to 0.05 percent of aluminum, 0.50 to 0.90 percent of chromium, 0.30 to 0.50 percent of molybdenum, less than or equal to 0.40 percent of nickel, and the balance of iron and inevitable impurities. A steel billet is smelt by electric furnace smelting, external furnace refining, vacuum degassing and horizontal or cambered continuous casting. The process of heating the steel billet is divided into preheating, heating and soaking, and the total heating time is controlled to be between 80 and 100 minutes. The finished product steel tube is subjected to quenching and tempering heat treatment, and the process for producing the steel tube comprises: water quenching, wherein the quenching temperature is between 910 DEG C and 930 DEG C, and the holding time is between 10 and 20 minutes; and tempering, wherein the tempering temperature is between 610 and 630 DEG C, and the holding time is between 40 and 60 minutes.
