The invention belongs to the environmental protection field, and relates to a process for treating paper making black liquor, in particular to a process for treating paper making black liquor left in an oxidation pond by using the oxidation-coagulation method. The process is characterized in that the process comprises the following steps: firstly adding a Fenton reagent with specific blending ratio into the black liquor and oxidizing for a certain time; adding a specific amount of coagulant positive ion polyacrylamide into the black liquor and slowly agitating; and finally filtering. The obtained filter liquor is clear and transparent, can directly be discharged up to the standard, and has the pH of 6 to 7, the COD of 150 to 250 mg/L, the chroma of 10 to 25 times, and the SS of 10 to 30 mg/L. The process has the advantages of short treatment time, good effect, low cost, scale control realization due to easy continuous operation, and good application prospect.
