The present invention relates to a refurbished camshaft and a method thereof. The method of refurbishing a camshaft having at least one defective portion includes removing material from the at least one defective portion to create a neck region. An alignment feature is introduced in the neck region according to a previous orientation of the defective portion. A segmented blank is installed around the neck region and oriented with the alignment feature.
