The invention relates to a steam dealkylation method for carrying out steam dealkylation to hydrocarbon distillation comprising at least 6C (C6+ distillation) and/or hydrocarbon distillation comprising at least 7C (C7+ distillation) in the device filled with catalyst material comprising the hydrocarbon filled-in material to produce hydrocarbon and the device heating from exterior, and except from gas consisting mainly of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and methane to produce aromatic HC's and alkanes. In a steam dealkylation filled-in material, the gas containing the hydrogen is led into the inlet area of the device for steam dealkylation, thereby prolonging the service life of the catalyst material.
