An exhaust cleaner for an internal combustion engine, the cleaner comprises: DPF's (30a and 30b) disposed in branches of an exhaust passageway (15) and serving to collect a particulate substance contained in the exhaust gas; and ozone supply means capable of supplying ozone to the upstream side of these DPF's (30a and 30b), respectively. In the cleaner, the proportions of the amounts of the exhaust gas to be supplied respectively to the DPF's (30a and 30b) and the proportions of the amounts of ozone to be supplied respectively thereto are changed.
