The invention relates to an optical recording medium which is provided with a recording layer. The recording layer contains both cation represented by the general formula (1) and chelate of azo compounds represented by the general formula (2) with metals, wherein, R<1>-R<4> represent monad radical represented by a chemical formula (10) as follows respectively and independently, R<2> and R<6> represent alkyl containing substitutional group respectively and independently, R<7> represents hydrogen atom, Q<1> and Q<2> represent benzene ring group containing substitutional group respectively and independently, at least one of R<1>-R<4> is monad radical represented by the chemical formula (10), at least random one of Ar<1> and Ar<2> is aryl of substitutional group containing coordinate with metal atom.
