Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for preparation of isopulegol of the formula (IV) comprising cyclization of citronellal compound of formula (V) in the presence of (I) as a catalyst; and (2) a method for preparing menthol comprising preparing (IV) and hydrogenating the ethylenic double bonds in the (IV).
